Our Peer to Peer Programme trains older pupils in the core skills of coaching and then supports them to work one-to-one with younger peers, creating powerful leadership opportunities and positive peer relationships across the school.
The older pupils become positive role models who help shape confidence, behaviour, and attitudes to learning across the school, as they develop responsibility and leadership skills. The younger pupils benefit from regular one-to-one support from a relatable peer who understands their school and routines.
The programme is flexible - schools shape the focus and structure around their pupils’ needs.
What is included?
Coach training and leadership development:
Older pupils are trained in the core skills of coaching, including listening, questioning, goal-setting and reflection.
Training is practical and age-appropriate, and leads to an SSAT-accredited Leadership Award.
One-to-one peer coaching sessions.
Peer coaching:
A launch session - pupils build their relationships through games and challenges
Weekly, one-to-one sessions between paired pupils (typically cohorts of roughly 15 pairs).
Sessions are flexible, allowing coaching to focus on anything: maths, phonics, or broader learning for personal development.
Structure, support and celebration:
Clear structure, with resources, guidance and robust impact evaluation.
The programme ends with a celebratory event recognising pupils’ development and contribution to their school community.
“The programme had a highly positive impact on our Year 5 and Year 3 children. It helped to build their confidence, improve their communication skills, and develop greater independence in their learning. Both groups became more engaged and motivated, and now have a much greater belief in their abilities.”
Shobana Kohli, Headteacher, Brockhurst Primary School
“There wasn’t much added to our workload. It actually meant children were going and closing their own gaps in their learning, but also helping to close the gaps of their peers.”
Natalie Footitt, Classteacher, Brooklands Farm Primary School
Our UniCoach Programme
Our Key Stage 2 Maths and Literacy Programmes provide pupils in Years 3,4, 5, and 6 the chance to thrive in a supportive yet challenging environment. University student volunteers will coach pupils in a 1:3 ratio for weekly sessions over the course of a term in school, helping them to become independent and resilient learners before they leave KS2!
Small COACHING Families
Small group coaching has the potential to add an extra five months learning gain during one academic year. Using coaching methodologies ensures the whole child is supported in a holistic capacity.
REACHING ACADEMIC POTENTIAL
Each session is designed to help pupils develop greater depth and achieve a higher standard. Our Maths strand uses a mastery approach with a focus on reasoning and problem solving. Our Literacy strand equips children with tools evidenced to improve reading comprehension.
UNDERSTANDING HOW TO LEARN
Our sessions are underpinned by growth mindset and metacognition principles, giving children the skills and outlook they need to support their immediate learning and future success. Children are encouraged to reflect deeply, develop new strategies, and stretch their understanding of both their studies and themselves.
““CoachBright is a very good resource for children. I think everyone round the world should get to use it once!””
